Max is a multi-award-winning physicist whose research focuses on nanoelectronics, biophysics and condensed matter theory. Currently a Professor of Physics at the University of California, San Diego, he has been recognised with the Feynman Prize for Theory in Nanotechnology and fellowships at the Institute of Physics, the American Physical Society, and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). He has also been elected as a foreign member of Academia Europaea. In addition, Max authored a book titled The Scientific Method: Reflections from a Practitioner and co-founded MemComputing, Inc.
