Jigisha Patel

Starting her career as a medical doctor and obtaining a PhD in Clinical Physiology, Jigisha transitioned to the world of academic publishing as a medical editor at BioMed Central. Awareness of research integrity issues faced by journals led to her creating training and resources to support the editors, peer reviewers and researchers she worked with. As Associate Editorial Director for research integrity, she led a team dedicated to handling research integrity issues at BioMed Central and subsequently helped to establish the research integrity team at Springer Nature. Since leaving Springer Nature, Jigisha has established Jigisha Patel Research Integrity, where she continues to work with editors, publishers and institutions to reduce research misconduct and promote research integrity. Jigisha is currently an elected member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Council.
