About Rohan Lowe
I use modern 'Omics' technologies to examine the interactions between fungal pathogens and their hosts. I have focussed on genome sequencing and transcriptomics of plant-pathogens. My studies encompass key agricultural crops, such as wheat, corn and canola, and their fungal diseases Head-blight, stalk rot, glume blotch, and blackleg. I use techniques that allow simultaneous analysis of both host and pathogen during early disease development to capture the hallmarks of disease establishment. Recently, I began examining how antimicrobial proteins kill fungi, including human pathogens such as Candida albicans.
