Susanna-Assunta Sansone

Susanna’s interests lie in data interoperability and reproducibility, research integrity, and the evolution of scholarly publishing. Susanna completed her PhD at Imperial College London, then spent a few years at a private vaccine company before moving into data management and biocuration at the EMBL-EBI (The European Bioinformatics Institute) in Cambridge.

In 2010, Susanna joined the University of Oxford, where she is a faculty member of the Department of Engineering Science. Her Data Readiness Group researches and develops methods and tools to improve data reuse and data ‘FAIRness’. An author of the FAIR Principles, she is on the board of many community initiatives on data standardisation and reproducibility. She is also the founder of FAIRsharing, which has been adopted by global organisations, funders and publishers.

Susanna is the Founding Honorary Academic Editor of the journal Scientific Data, where she focuses on the strategic development of the journal, particularly by fostering relationships with the scientific community and helping to define standards for data reuse.
