Chief Editor, Nature Biomedical Engineering
Pep (he/him) leads the editorial team of Nature Biomedical Engineering, a journal that he launched in 2017. As Chief Editor of a scientific journal for researchers in the applied life sciences, bioengineering and health, Pep advises on the value of interdisciplinary collaborative efforts and on the outputs resulting from them. Previously, he was a Senior Editor for Nature Materials for over 5 years. He has championed research and review content across the applied biomedical sciences, and has been handling manuscripts, commissioning review and opinion articles and writing on a wide variety of topics, including machine learning for biomedicine, medical imaging, gene and cell therapies, regenerative medicine, and diagnostics.
Pep obtained his PhD in Chemical Engineering from Rovira I Virgili University in Catalonia, Spain. Before joining Springer Nature, he also spent time conducting research in computational soft matter and biophysics at Columbia University's Chemistry Department in New York City, at the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces in Potsdam, and at the Atomic and Molecular Physics Institute in Amsterdam.
