Michael is a Teaching Professor of Engineering at Penn State and he holds masters in both electrical engineering and writing. He is passionate about rethinking the way in which scientific presentations are conducted, and is the author of The Craft of Scientific Presentations, most recently updated in 2018. Michael advocates for an assertion-evidence approach, which is grounded in the principles of cognitive neuroscience. For more than a decade, he has used this approach to help engineers and scientists from renowned institutions such as Harvard Medical School, the National Science Foundation, MIT and Shanghai Jiao Tong University improve their communication skills.
