Laura Stark

Laura L. Stark is Director of Graduate Career Services at Harvard University and has more than twenty years of experience counselling graduate students and PhDs through the challenges of graduate study and into careers, both within and outside academia. She holds a PhD in neuroscience from Yale University and completed post-doctoral research at the University of Pennsylvania before making a transition to career counselling. In her previous life as a neuroscientist, she studied developmental neural mechanisms of learning and memory in sea slugs and zebra finches, was supported by two individual NIH fellowships, and published several scientific articles. These experiences allow Laura a deep understanding of the challenges of scientific research, which helps her support young scholars in their pursuit of the scientific enterprise, both within academia and in the wider world.
