Kylie Ball

Kylie is a world-renowned researcher studying the public health aspects of physical activity and nutrition. She has been recognised as a three-time Thomson Reuters/Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher, placing her in the top 1% of researchers in her field internationally. After obtaining her PhD from the University of Newcastle, Kylie joined the faculty at Deakin University where she is currently an Alfred Deakin Professor and a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences. In June 2021 she was honoured as a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for significant service in her field. As well as having her own impressive track record of funding from a variety of different organisations, Kylie is the founder of the Happy Academic blog, which seeks to provide guidance to early and mid-career researchers navigating the world of academia. On the back of the success of the blog, Kylie launched Indago Academy which provides support and training to early and mid-career researchers. This portfolio of training also includes a course on how to secure grants and fellowships.
