Accessibility Statement
We’re committed to easy access for everyone
Nature Masterclasses is committed to making our website and online e-learning courses as accessible as possible to everyone, including those with visual, hearing, cognitive and motor impairments. We're constantly working towards improving the accessibility of our website to ensure we provide equal access to all of our users.
As part of our commitment to accessibility, we are working to ensure that our website is compatible with:
- Recent versions of popular screen readers
- Operating system screen magnifiers
The online courses available via the Nature Masterclasses platform were built using the Articulate 360 software package. The accessibility conformance reports for this software can be found here:
These provide technical information about which criteria from the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 are supported. In particular, we are working to improve the accessibility of our services for users with disabilities by:
- Providing keyboard accessible navigation for all content
- Ensuring all images are provided with alt-text
- Providing accessible, plain text equivalents for any learning activities that are not easy to access
We are currently rolling out improvements across our courses and working towards having a tailored accessibility statement for each course.
Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1
Wherever possible, the Nature Masterclasses Online site will adhere to level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1). These guidelines outline four main principles that state that sites should be:
- Perceivable - Information and user interface components must be presentable to users in ways they can perceive
- Operable - User interface components and navigation must be operable
- Understandable - Information and the operation of user interface must be understandable
- Robust - Content must be robust enough that it can be interpreted reliably by a wide variety of user agents, including assistive technologies
